Communicating results is part of our mission. The California Birth Defects Monitoring Program (CBDMP) provides data to scientists, health care professionals and the public to answer questions about birth defects.
- Public health impact of birth defects. Policymakers, health officials and clinical service planners can use this data to predict services needed, allocate resources, identify high risk populations and target public health interventions. Because birth defects are an often overlooked problem, documenting occurrence can help the public appreciate the tremendous financial and emotional impact involved.
Providing data to those who can find the answers. Making our data available to scientists and health care professionals is an integral part to answering questions about birth defects.
Informing the Public. CBDMP can assist in directing parents and families to where they can find answers to their questions.
