Don't Fall for It: Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls in the Workplace
With fall weather arriving, now is the perfect time to focus on preventing one of the most common workplace injuries: slips, trips, and falls.
Changing weather, wet surfaces, fallen leaves, and poor lighting all increase the risk of falls especially in construction, maintenance, healthcare, and food service.
Prevention Tips:
- Keep walkways clear of obstacles and clutter
- Use “wet floor" signs and clean spills promptly
- Wear appropriate non-slip footwear
- Ensure proper lighting in all work areas
- Install handrails and anti-slip mats where needed
Falls may seem minor, but they can lead to serious injuries or long-term disability. According to the CDC, falls are a leading cause of traumatic injuries in the workplace.
