Are there chemicals in your body that could harm your health?

Join the CARE Study to learn about:

  • Arsenic, lead, mercury, and other chemicals in your body
  • Your individual results
  • Actions you and your family can take to help reduce your contact with these chemicals

Biomonitoring California is doing this study to measure and compare chemicals in people across the state, starting in LA County. This information will support efforts to reduce chemical exposure in Californians and improve public health.

If you have questions about the study, please email our team at

What does my participation involve?

You will be asked to answer a short survey, provide a urine sample, and have a small amount of blood drawn—about as much as you would give at a doctor's visit. Sample collection will be conveniently located around LA County. You will also receive a $20 gift card. In order to participate, you must be 18 years or older and have lived in LA County for the last year.
