Tables 4A-4D. Cancer Disparities Among California's Asian Ethnic Groups
Tables 4A-4D show the five most common cancers for Asian ethnic groups by sex. Although Asian and Pacific Islanders as a collective group have lower rates of cancer incidence and mortality compared to non-Hispanic Whites, non-Hispanic Blacks, and Hispanics, the burden of cancer varies greatly among the individual Asian subgroups. The number of new cancer cases diagnosed from 2018 to 2022 show that prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, and South Asian males. Lung cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Vietnamese males, while colorectal cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Laotian and Cambodian males. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among females in each of the Asian subgroups. Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related death among males and females in each of the Asian subgroups, except for liver cancer being the most common cause of cancer-related death among Cambodian males and breast cancer being the most common cause of cancer-related death among Filipina and South Asian females.
