Welcome to the State of California

Finding the Teacher Within

Workshops and Inservices

All agency FTW leaders attended four 2-day Train-the-Trainer Workshops in Sacramento.  Timelines and roles for state and local agency staff were discussed during the first workshop.  Class design guidelines and sample lesson plans were provided as well.

Local agency WIC class teachers were trained during two 2-day on-site FTW workshops at their agency.  Each workshop was followed by at least one additional day of leaders observing teachers lead LCE classes and providing them with feedback. In preparation for the first onsite workshop, agencies were asked to:

  • conduct a learning needs and resource assessment of their own agency staff,
  • create or revise at least two lesson plans incorporating LCE principles and practices; and
  • use input from teaching staff, participant field tests, and state mentors to finalize plans.
