STEC Isolation for Enrichment Broth

Supplemental Information or Form

The submitting laboratory is encouraged to isolate STEC and submit suspect isolates along with broth.  Bacterial Culture for Identification Form “LAB 446” is required for submission of samples.

Storage & Preservation of Specimen Prior to Shipping

Store specimen at 4°C.

Transport Medium

For isolates accompanying broth, ship cultures on nonselective nutrient or similar agar in tubes with leak-proof screw cap closures.

Specimen Labeling

Test subject to CLIA regulations require two patient identifiers on the specimen container and the test requisition

Shipping Instructions which Include Specimen Handling Requirements

Ship at ambient temperature.
