Technical Sources for the CSCP Chemical List
The Safe Cosmetics Act lists the following as some sources of information to create the California Safe Cosmetics Program (CSCP) Chemical list:

Specific Product and Chemical Information
- Healthy Hair Care and the Environment (USEPA) – provides information on chemicals found in hair care products, potential health impacts, and alternatives for consumers and hair care professionals.
- National Library of Medicine Toxicology Data Network (Toxnet) – access to databases of chemicals, with corresponding information on human health effects, animal toxicity studies, environmental standards and regulations, chemical/physical properties, etc.
- Cosmetics Safety Guide and Database – database of cosmetic ingredients, products and companies compiled by researchers at the Environmental Working Group, a non-profit organization.
- Ingredient Review Panel – reviews selected cosmetic product ingredients, sponsored by Personal Care Products Council. Reports and ingredient alerts are posted.
