Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts
Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts (CDP: EWC) provides clinical breast exams, mammograms, pelvic exams and Pap tests to California’s underserved women. These women are age 40 and older (cervical cancer screening is provided to women 25 and older), and have an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty. CDP: EWC is funded by a federal grant and state tobacco tax revenue.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of death for women in California.
One in eight women will develop breast cancer.
Regular screening for breast cancer can detect cancer at its earliest, most treatable stage and save lives. There is 96% survival rate over 5-year period.
Cervical cancer is nearly 100% preventable with regular screening.
