Preconception Health Education Day Goals

The MCAH Action Preconception Health Education Day was sponsored by the State MCAH Program’s Preconception Health and Health Care Initiative. The session was designed for health care professionals including physicians, nurses, public health leaders, local MCAH directors and their staff, and others with interests in preconception health. The goals of the session were to:

  • Describe the content of preconception care and discuss key preconception health promotion messages
  • Introduce the participants to the mission and goals of the Preconception Care Council of California and the accomplishments of the Council’s Public Health Workgroup
  • Provide concrete examples of programs currently engaged in preconception health promotion in California
  • Increase the capacity of participants to integrate preconception health promotion strategies into their work
