Provider Setup Guidelines

Before a provider can start using ARIES the provider must complete agency, staff, and contract configurations.  It is helpful for a provider to designate an ARIES technical lead to assist with these steps.  Below is a duty statement to help providers determine which staff have the skills to perform these tasks.

  • When setting up contracts within ARIES, the Office of AIDS (OA) has established a naming convention policy.  Below is a document illustrating the policy.  On the back page is a flowchart showing the relationship between funding sources, contracts, and services.

  • When setting up your contracts within ARIES, it is important to note the units attached to each service category.  OA has developed standardized units of service for application in all contracts.  By June 2007, these standardized units will be imposed within ARIES for each primary and secondary service (and in turn, passed down to the Agency subservice).  Below is the ARIES Service Hierarchy defining the standardized units for each service category.  In addition, the Service Hierarchy shows how your services will be reported on the CARE Act Data Report (CADR), and whether they qualify as a Title III service for CADR reporting (section 6.1).
