Vital Statistics Index Files (Birth, Death, and Marriage)
The California Birth, Death, and Marriage Indices are available to the public pursuant to Health and Safety (H&S) Code, Section 102230(b). The birth and death indices are also available for fraud prevention and law enforcement purposes, pursuant to H&S Code, Section 102230(c).

Purchasing Index Files
Prices for these indices may vary depending on the product and the years requested. The cost of the birth and death indices are provided in the applications listed below. The Marriage Index Files includes one decade's worth of data on each CD-ROM. The costs is $100 of each CD-ROM. To order indices, complete and return the appropriate application to the Office of Health Information and Research.
