The California Department of Public Health, Environmental Management Branch (CDPH) is an active participant in the Environmental Health Specialist-Network (EHS-Net) Drinking Water Program sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The purpose of the program is to work with local governments to assure the safety of drinking water in non-Safe Drinking Water Act (non-SDWA) systems and private wells. The goal of EHS-Net is to help State health departments improve the practice of environmental health service programs by establishing a network of environmental health specialists who collaborate with epidemiologists and laboratorians to identify and prevent environmental factors contributing to waterborne illness and disease outbreaks.
EHS-Net assists state health departments in their efforts to improve the practice of environmental health service programs. This is accomplished by:
