Clinical Laboratory Director, Bioanalyst, Clinical Laboratory Scientist and Phlebotomy Licensing and Certification and Training Programs

California law requires that laboratory professional staff be licensed or certified by the California Department of Public Health. (CDPH)

Information is available through Laboratory Field Services for completing the application, instructions, review process, examination dates, and pertinent temporary license requirements for education and training.  

Directors, Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) and Phlebotomists are encouraged to apply online for licensure/certification by visiting https://secure.cps.ca.gov/cltreg/.

LFS also approves training schools for clinical laboratory personnel including schools that provide instruction in venipuncture procedures (phlebotomy).
