Welcome to the State of California

2010 Women's Health Council Recruitment

The Office of Women’s Health (OWH) is recruiting new members for its Women’s Health Council (WHC), an advisory body to the Director of the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) through the Office of Women’s Health (OWH).

The WHC is a body of experts, advocates, clinicians and community representatives that provides advice and support to OWH.  In the past, the Council has recruited members to address a broad range of women’s health issues faced by both the rural and urban populations of the State of California, including:  racial and ethnic health disparities, access to quality health care for low-income and uninsured, long term care, caregiving, chronic disease, cancer, cardiovascular heart disease, diabetes, environment health, health systems, quality of care, mental health, disabilities, women’s reproductive health, lesbian and bisexual women’s health and HIV/AIDS. Considering the recently passed National Health Care Reform Act, the OWH is also interested in candidates to advise the office on how changes in health care reform will impact women’s health in California.

Given the critical advisory role of the Council, all members must be willing to make a commitment to attend all meetings and actively participate.
