Substance Abuse training meets the federal and state mandate for all local agency staff to attend alcohol and drug abuse training once every 12 months. The interactive training covers the minimally required subject areas on screening participants for alcohol and drug use, maintaining participant confidentiality, making appropriate referrals, and discussing the dangers of drug and alcohol use. Additionally, this training provides engaging activities and includes the informative, illustrated Alcohol and Other Drugs Quick Reference Guide for WIC Staff. This guide can be used to help educate WIC participants on the dangers of substance use.
This training is primarily being offered on a quarterly basis at various Regional Training Centers throughout the state.
