Welcome to the State of California

"Tobacco and Its Impact in My Community" Photo Contest

CTCP is partnering with the California Department of Education, Coordinated School Health and Safety Office, Tobacco Use Prevention Education Program (CDE/TUPE) and the American Cancer Society (ACS) on the contest. These organizations as well as others will participate on the Selection Committee, to facilitate the promotion of the contest, and ACS will donate prizes for contest winners. CTCP will promote the contest through schools, youth organizations, local health departments, and the Fight Tobacco Facebook page. Using social media to promote the contest will expand the audience, help to attract new "Likes" to the page and keep the current audience engaged. A Selection Committee has been formed to choose the winners of the four categories and those panelists include:

1) Dr. Ron Chapman, Director of CDPH

2) April Roeseler, Interim Branch Chief of CTCP

3) Richard Kwong, Senior Policy Strategist of CTCP

4) 3 representatives from ACS

5) 2 representatives from CDE

6) Kim Homer Vagadori, Executive Director of the California Youth Advocacy

7) Dr. Pamela Ling, member of the Tobacco Education & Research Oversight

CTCP has created a Flickr account with our FightTobacco@cdph.ca.gov email/account to house the photos that will be submitted in September and October. Currently, our Flickr account does not provide us access to upload photos. We are requesting approval to have full access and capability (including uploading photos) of Flickr for our Selection Committee to preview the photos the week of November 4th. Also our Selection Committee will have an in-person meeting the week of November 12th to come to a consensus and choose the winners in each category. The Flickr account is needed because the panelists in our Selection Committee are a mix of internal CDPH employees and external partners of CTCP. If a Flickr account cannot be approved, please provide us alternative solutions to house the photos where our Selection Committee would be able to preview them in November.
