Three information sheets were developed by the California Safe Cosmetics Program (CSCP) in response to questions about the Safe Cosmetics Act of 2005 (the Act) with input from the CSCP Stakeholder Planning Committee and approval by CDPH’s Office of Legal Services. The information in these documents comes from the Act and the federal rules referenced in the Act.
To assist companies with the mandatory reporting requirements of the California Safe Cosmetics Act, CSCP has compiled a list of chemicals known or suspected to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm using reports and lists from authoritative bodies specified in the California Safe Cosmetics Act. Newer entries since the June 2016 update are noted in blue font.
The California Safe Cosmetics Program has released its first data report. This report summarizes the cosmetics product data reported since the launch of the online reporting system.
