California Safe Cosmetics Program - Publications

Program Background

Three information sheets were developed by the California Safe Cosmetics Program (CSCP) in response to questions about the Safe Cosmetics Act of 2005 (the Act) with input from the CSCP Stakeholder Planning Committee and approval by CDPH’s Office of Legal Services. The information in these documents comes from the Act and the federal rules referenced in the Act.

2010 CSCP Chemical List

To assist companies with the mandatory reporting requirements of the California Safe Cosmetics Act, CSCP has compiled a list of chemicals known or suspected to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm using reports and lists from authoritative bodies specified in the California Safe Cosmetics Act.

The last annual update, made available in December of 2010, contains 12 new chemicals and new toxicity information for several chemicals that were on the 2009 list. For easy reference, new entries are noted in blue font.
