California Breathing is a program of the Environmental Health Investigations Branch. Our purpose is to advance strategies outlined in the Strategic Plan for Asthma in California 2008-2012. The program maintains a robust asthma surveillance system (data collection and reporting); conducts interventions and promotes policies and practices that reduce disparities in asthma outcomes; and uses a variety of methods to engage traditional and non-traditional partners throughout the state. Our work focuses on reducing the impact of environmental asthma triggers in homes, schools and childcare, workplaces, outdoors and in communities.
