Air
Air pollutants are chemicals, particles, or biological materials that harm humans, other living things, and the planet. They come from many sources and may arise from human activities or natural processes. Air pollutants can cause or contribute to respiratory illness and other health problems. A number of programs in the California Department of Public Health study air pollution exposure and health impacts in indoor and outdoor air, including workplaces. This research supports recommendations for health-protective measures and policies.
