Preteen Vaccine Week was January 18-24, 2009
Preteen Vaccine Week kicked off the year with adolescent immunizations! The purpose of Preteen Vaccine Week is to raise awareness of the importance of immunizations for preteens ages 11 and 12. You can help by distributing information and materials through multiple avenues such as schools and providers to raise awareness about the ACIP recommendations and promote the preteen doctor visit.
ACIP currently recommends that 11- and 12-year-olds receive the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough) vaccine, meningococcal vaccine, HPV vaccine for girls, and the second chickenpox shot. By the 2009-10 flu season, all preteens are also recommended to receive an annual flu vaccine.
