Cancer Detection Programs:

CDPH offices will be closed three Fridays per month January 2010 through June 2010 due to the Governor's furlough orders.

The Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts (CDP: EWC) provides free clinical breast exams, mammograms, pelvic exams and Pap tests to California’s underserved women.  These women are age 50 and older (cervical cancer screening is provided to women 25 and older), and have an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty.

Breast Cancer Screening and Cervical Cancer Prevention Information

Do you qualify for free services? You may if you:

  • are 50 years old or older (25 years old or older for cervical)
  • have low income*
  • have medical insurance that does not cover these services
  • have a high insurance deductible or co-payment
  • are not getting these services through Medi-Cal or another government-sponsored program
  • live in California

    We speak English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and Vietnamese. If you qualify, you will be referred to participating doctors in your neighborhood.

    If you don't qualify, the CDP: EWC Regional Contractor in your area may know of other low-cost screening programs that might be available to you.  The Regional Contractors are also your link to support groups, advocacy groups and the latest information on what's happening in your community.

    Treatment Information

    If you are diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer:

    Free treatment is available to all Californians who qualify through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program.  Information on this program is available on Medi‑Cal's website or call 1-800-824-0088 to speak with an eligibility specialist.

    Information for Providers

    Provider assistance at the local level is available from staff at the CDP: EWC Regional Contractors.  Regional Contractor staff are responsible for assisting providers with enrollment and orientation to CDP: EWC, providing clinical support and communication with providers on behalf of CDS.
